He highlighted the initiation of 11 smart schools during the 2023/2024 academic session spread across
Bauchi, Benue, Ekiti, Nasarawa, Niger, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kwara, Osun, and Oyo states.

These schools serve as pioneers in implementing a new era of tech-integrated education.

During a two-day workshop organized by UBEC's Digital Resource Centre, Dr. Bobboyi expressed the agency's eagerness to collaborate with emerging Edtech startups.

The objective is to equip education stakeholders, especially teachers in smart schools, with the tools and knowledge necessary for effectively utilizing technology in education.

The collaboration seeks to infuse fresh perspectives and strategies into the delivery of quality basic education," stated David Apeh, UBEC's spokesperson.

UBEC's Digital Resource Centre has embarked on a proactive support system aimed at refining the capabilities of teachers in smart schools.

Through direct observation and personalized feedback, teachers receive guidance and support for professional development, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The recent workshop saw the participation of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), 21 Edtech startups, and 11 teachers from operational smart schools nationwide.

This collaborative effort signals a pivotal step towards leveraging technology to enhance the quality and relevance of education in Nigeria.

UBEC's pursuit of smart education reflects a concerted effort to transform the educational landscape, ensuring that the nation's young minds receive a quality foundation for future success.
